My father wrote hundreds of letters home to his parents during his time in the Navy during WWII. In one of them, he suggested to his mother that, because he was prohibited from keeping a diary (due to wartime regulations?), that she might save his letters as a way to remember his travels and his experiences.

Having found the letters, and noting that many were very difficult to read, I have taken it upon myself to type them up and to try to learn more, from my father, and also from shipmates, if possible.

Below are some of the photos I've found, and for which I'd love more information. Please click on any of the photos if you would like to email me a message about it. (Also, feel free to share your own memories from the USS Paul G. Baker. With your permission, I will also share your stories on this site. Read more here.)

Thanks,

Mary Christianson
